Fijians in Ireland
Ni sa bula vinaka! A home page for the Fijian community across Ireland, and a guide to where to get help.
A welcome from the Honorary Consul

Bula, Fáilte and welcome.
As the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Fiji to the Republic of Ireland, it is my privilege to support Fiji citizens, foster closer links between Fiji and Ireland, and to provide support and guidance to those seeking information about Fiji.
I hope you find this website helpful, and I look forward to assisting you where I can.
Vinaka vakalevu,
Liebling Smith
Honorary Consul of the Republic of Fiji to the Republic of Ireland
🤝What the Honorary Consul can help with
An Honorary Consul is a volunteer representative who supports the Fijian community and promotes links between Fiji and Ireland. Fiji does not have an embassy in Ireland: the Fiji High Commission in London is accredited to the Republic of Ireland as well as the United Kingdom, Morocco and the Holy See (Fiji Ministry of Foreign Affairs (opens in a new tab)).
The Honorary Consul can
- Give general information and point you to the right official service
- Help you get in touch with the Fiji High Commission in London
- Offer support and advice in an emergency (for example serious illness, accident, arrest or death of a Fijian in Ireland), working with the High Commission
- Connect Fijians in Ireland with each other and with community events
- Promote trade, tourism and cultural links between Fiji and Ireland
The Fiji High Commission in London handles
- Fijian passport applications and renewals
- Visas and permits for travel to Fiji (where required)
- Citizenship, dual citizenship and official documents
- Formal consular services for Fijians across the UK and accredited countries, including Ireland

The Honorary Consul cannot issue passports or visas, give legal advice, pay bills or fines, or intervene in Irish legal or immigration decisions.
🛂Passports and documents
General guidance only — requirements change, so always confirm with the High Commission before you apply or travel.
- Check your passport expiry early. Many countries and airlines require at least six months’ validity, and renewals from abroad take time.
- Fijian passports for people living in Ireland are dealt with through the Fiji High Commission in London (opens in a new tab). Contact them for current forms, fees, photo rules and processing times.
- Your Irish immigration permission (IRP card) is separate from your passport. When you renew your passport, keep your IRP valid and check whether the Irish Immigration Service needs your new passport details (irishimmigration.ie (opens in a new tab)).
- Keep copies of key documents (passport, IRP, birth and marriage certificates) stored safely and separately from the originals.
- Lost or stolen passport? Report it to An Garda Síochána and contact the High Commission as soon as possible.
🌺Community groups
In October 2025 the President of Fiji, Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu, met members of the Fijian community from Dublin and Northern Ireland at a gathering in Dublin during his official visit (FBC News (opens in a new tab)).
I am building a list of Fijian and Pacific Island communities, artists, sports and cultural groups in Ireland. If you run or belong to one, please contact the Honorary Consul with the group’s name, location, contact details and a short description so it can be listed here.
